What to expect when you apply for a role with MEC

We believe recruitment is a two-way conversation. While we’re getting to know you, we want you to get to know us too. Our people, our culture, the work we do, and what it’s really like to build your career at MEC.

If a role at MEC has caught your attention, the first step is submitting your application through our online recruitment platform.

To help us get to know you, we encourage you to upload an up-to-date CV that showcases your relevant experience, projects, and technical expertise. While a cover letter isn’t required, we always enjoy learning more about what interests you about MEC, your career aspirations, and what you could bring to our team.

If your application progresses, we’ll invite you to an initial conversation with a member of our team. This is an opportunity for us to learn more about your background, career aspirations, and what you’re looking for in your next role, while also giving you the chance to ask questions and gain a better understanding of MEC, our projects, and the opportunity on offer.

At MEC, our interviews are designed to be conversational and focused on real experience. We use behavioural questions to understand how you’ve approached situations in the past and how that translates into the way you work today.

Typically, you can expect one to two interviews, either in person or online depending on location and role. In some cases, you may also meet additional team members or stakeholders as part of the process.

Our aim is to get a genuine sense of how you think, collaborate, and contribute in a team environment. We encourage you to come prepared by reviewing the role and understanding MEC’s work and purpose. Above all, we’re looking for people who bring the potential to grow with us, not a perfect set of answers.

Before any offer is confirmed, we will complete reference checks with the referees you provide. Depending on the role, we may also carry out additional pre-employment checks to ensure suitability for the position.

We will always let you know what’s required as part of the process so there are no surprises along the way.

If you’re successful, we will extend a formal offer and talk you through the next steps as you join MEC.

From there, you’ll be supported through our structured onboarding program, designed to help you settle in quickly, build confidence in your role, and get to know the people, projects, and ways of working at MEC. We know starting a new role can come with a few nerves, so we’ve intentionally designed the experience to be welcoming, well-paced, and supportive so you can hit the ground running without the usual “new starter jitters.”
